Vacuum forming is the process of heating THICKER
PLASTICS SHEETS to a soft, formable state. Heated
plastic is then stretched over a male mold, or formed into a
female mold. The plastic is then pulled against the mold by
applied vacuum force between the mold and the heated, formable
plastic. Once the forming is completed, the formed plastic
sheet is an exact representation of the molds shape. The part
is then post trimmed, on a secondary trimming
machine.
Heavy gauge vacuum
forming is typically for larger parts.
